This is the first showcase of the CVSD Tech Tips Online Newsletter. Each week a new tip or tool will be shared. If you are doing something with technology in your classroom that you would like to showcase, contact me, Dr. Sipe, at extension 1007 or [email protected] . I would love to come out to your classroom and get a picture or video to share in my blog. Information is on the about page to guide you in becoming featured in a CVSD Tech Tip Showcase.
Mr. Angelini Showcases Plickers
"Whole-class response so often becomes trivial or time-consuming. I've tried sign-letters, student movement, and placards. All the strategies work - almost. They get all students engaged or they give me instant data for reflection or they flow smoothly in a lesson... but rarely do they do all of them (ever tried to use a set of ActiveExpressions and NOT have problems?). The plicker system was efficient to set up and use, engaging for the students, and complete with useful follow-up data. I'm sold."
Mr. Angelini, middle school teacher of language arts and social studies, uses Plickers. Plickers is a free tool that allows the teacher to scan student responses and immediately have the feedback project onto the IWB so students can see whole class results. The results can be saved for later analysis if needed. Mr. Angelini printed the response cards onto cardstock and punched holes on the side of them and gave one to each of his students to keep in their binders for both classes they have with him.
Plickers is so easy to set up and use for any grade level. The teacher can scan the responses with an iPad or smart phone. Check out Plickers in use in the video provided. If you would like assistance getting it set up, contact Dr. Sipe at extension 1007 or [email protected]/.
