This weeks feature is a FREE web gem, a tool called EdPuzzle. EdPuzzle is a tool that allows you to mashup a video turning it into a lesson. Find a video and crop it to use only what you need, insert audio notes or record over a video with your voice, and add questions at any point in the video and track your students' understanding. The first video clip below is a quick overview of Ed Puzzle. The second video shows you step by step how to use the various tools found within EdPuzzle. This is a really nice tool for those who want to allow students to work independently or in groups. This is a great tool for developing hybrid types of classroom environments. A teacher may be working with a small group of students while having a second group uses technology to preview or enrich using an EdPuzzle video and possibly a third group is doing a hands-on application or reading activity. Student groups could rotate through the activities and in this hybrid environment give the teacher time to work with smaller groups of students or individuals. The Edpuzzle videos are great tools for remediation, enrichment, or even frontloading. There are thousands of videos to choose from or you can create your own videos and do a mashup on them.

Email Address for the High School Announcement Team! Thanks to the guys in the tech department we now have an email address for the announcement team. It is [email protected]. All announcements (unless they are an emergency) should be sent to this address. The team will then access them. I have a few students that will copy and paste these email in to the teleprompter. The student that enters the announcements on the website in the guidance office will have access to them as well. Please list the dates you would like it read and any pictures or videos you would like to include. If you have a cool web tool you would like to see featured, contact Dr. Sipe, [email protected], to set up a time for her to discuss it with you. She is looking for teacher and/or student technology integration showcases for her weekly newsletter. |
