Mr. Angelini Showcases Angel Hub, his Google Site, and his Angel Newsletter Feature presenter this week is Tony Angelini from the Middle School who is showcasing his parent and student communications. Tony has two types of communication that is shared with parents. The first is his weekly newsletter and the second is his teacher Google Sites website. Here is the link for his Google Site https://sites.google.com/a/cvcolonials.org/angelhub/home . You will see that he has embedded a variety of documents and resources into the site that are available for both parents and students to access. Tony shared, “The parent feedback has been very positive and parents love the fact that the newsletter goes right to them each Sunday. They don’t have to go looking for it. Parents have access directly to google documents that their child is using through links added within the newsletter and within the Google Sites website.” The template for the newsletter was created in MS Publisher. Tony shared that this is the second year he has used the newsletter and, as with anything, it has been much less time consuming then it was the first year. In the second year he has been able to go back to the past year’s newsletters and reuse much of the information with just some minor tweaks. To get the emails from parents, he contacted the middle school office staff who pulled the parent email addresses out of the student information system and sent them to him in a csv file. He was able to import the information into Novell Groupwise to set up a mailing group. Some examples of Tony’s newsletters are shared in this week’s blog. If you want more information about this please contact Tony Angelini at the middle school.
